UAV Geospatial Solutions recently conducted an updated aerial survey of the farm, reflecting this years plantings.

Last years plantings pushing up new shoots, with an average of 4 new shoots per stand are performing well, with new shoots still emerging.
Lisoka Estate Malawi - March 2014
In December 2013 at the onset of the rainy season we began planting 30ha of bamboo on a 256ha timber estate 30 minutes outside of Lilongwe, the initial 30ha was completed by March 2014. The plantation will also be used to produce fuel and showcase bamboo to potential customers.
Trial Plantings - March 2016
Here are some updated pictures of the trial plantings, the first series is of a block that received no water during the prolonged dry season. The total annual rainfall was only around 600mm, making it one of the driest in the past 30 years.

We planted some maze in the center of the trail plot, its stunted height is a good indication of how late and short this rainy season has been, despite this the bamboo exceeded expectations.
